Development

Site streamlining continues. All my photo galleries are finally up and running again. Tweaking with them on a sub level is progressing. Web advice I’ve recently taken: un-justify text to improve readability, remove frivolous junk from home page (i.e. counter and CSS validator logo). I press on.
As Dale was kind enough to point out, I’m [...]

Minor update

I got some gallery stuff posted with an experimental format using JAlbum 3.5. It’s good stuff. Very flexible. Use it because I do.
Nothing new in the galleries yet. I’m still knee deep in redesign. Even jk.com v5 will more than likely come out as v5.1 before long. I’m developing a sub site called “jaymekohler.com | [...]

MSN Messenger issues

It has come to my attention that many of you have been trying to contact me through MSN Messenger with no success. I simply don’t answer. There’s a reason for this. My laptop is connected to the internet line all the time, but the internet connection itself is often inconsistent. In addition, the shared connection [...]

Situation report

There’s nothing a some time in the woods to really clear your mind. After less than 24 hours camping, I came back with a fresh perspective on everything from web design to school work to banana bread baking. You can already see the leaps and bounds the web page has come. My school work, now [...]

The outing that never was

Somewhere along the line we got lost.
Long story short: Coleman and I ending up camping by ourselves, took some pictures of the waterfall we were at, got chewed on by bugs I’ve never heard of, built our fire with one match and parts of the Amazon rain forest, got stared at by the locals a [...]

I came off mids this morning at 0615. I slept from 0623 until 0802. I know because I looked. The rest of the day has been spent prepping for the function here at the Marine house tonight at 1800. We’re selling pizza, draft beer, and even threw in a wine tasting event to determine the [...]

The experiment

I’m making banana bread. This is my first venture in baking since the Great Chocolate Chip Cookie Incident of 1995. It wasn’t
a pretty sight. I got the recipe from dear old Dawn, my oldest sister. It is as follows:

2 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 [...]

Six hours of sleep: The eve of day 1

My alarm is set for 0500 so I can get into the embassy and get some work done. It is now 2314 and I’m under my six hour mark, but that’s okay. Six hours was the max.
I went on another ride today. It’s almost a habit again. My plan for tomorrow is embassy until about [...]

Revelations

My body has, historically, taken exactly as much sleep as needed. I’ve never woken up after 14 hours and had a sore back. I’ve never felt more tired than when I went to sleep. I have, however, felt as those I’ve wasted the better part of the day and resolve to do better. I resolve [...]
