Back isn’t necessarily better

What do they say about a rose by any other name is still a rose? Does the same hold true for speedos? I finally broke down today and decided to buy a pair, if not a generic pair, from one of the local malls. For the equivalent of a whopping $3.00, I now actually rate Brazilian citizenship based only on the fact I own a pair of speedos. How cool is that?

A couple days ago I got a bug in my ear to ride a portion of the Lewis and Clark Trail when I go back to North Dakota in June or July. My plan is to ride easterly from a point about 3-4 weeks west of Bismarck. Dale knows about it. Mack knows about it. And now you know about it. I think that the more people who know about this, the more motivated I’ll be to actually pull it off. In fact, Mack has even asked to join me! We’ve been putting a lot of quality miles on the hogs lately, but they in no way compare to what lies ahead. I’m giddy like a school girl just thinking about it.

This new web log page will serve as my diary while I’m on the road, because you can bet your sweet butt I won’t be taking my laptop with me and trying to jack into some seedy truck stop internet cafe. And as long as the computer(s) I’m using on the trip are USB equipped, I can even upload some pics! It’ll be play by play and day by day. What excitement lies ahead!

If you somehow missed the disclaimer at the top of this page, I created this page to supplement my main index log in the event of upload difficulties (as has been the case for a few weeks now). I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to tie it all together, but it shouldn’t be too difficult. At least I can give you something solid, now. It’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball time again folks! Ours is this Saturday and the stress level around here is ready to burst at the seams. What is with an event for 350 people that is toted at the most important of the year that makes everyone so crazy in coordinating? My philosophy is this: If I ignore it long enough, it’ll go away. But enough about my relaxation techniques.

It’s time to move on.

More camping gear has arrived. Included in this shipment is a new NorthFace Roadrunner 2 tent, a Xenon/LED combo headlamp, assorted replacement bulbs and waterproofing for my Gortex jackets, hiking boots, and old tent. I think the Lone Scout venture has cost me almost $500 so far. But let me crunch some numbers and get back to you. It sounds pretty steep.

Plenty of new things on the way. I’m building a page for the Brasilia Lone Scouts with various Scout resources and such they can access, as well as learning tools to help in rank advancement. Not much effort will be going into the design of this page. It is only here as a last resort when all else fails (and when I’m on the road).

Hopefully it’s enough for the vultures.
